You have probably received a mailing from me that was intended as a blog post on my new gorgeous and exciting website (thanks to the wildly talented Rowan Moore Seifred), but due to a technoglitch it has come to you. The following is what I intended for you to get, so if the previous mailing got you confused about what The Copper Stone is or who Sandi is, this may clarify.
Dear Friends,
You’re getting this because you’re a dear friend and/or esteemed colleague and/or avid reader and/or educator and/or art lover. Most likely you know that I’m shy to talk about what I’m writing, so you may or may not already know this news.
You may recall that my book Copper Magic was published awhile back, both to positive reviews (including a Kirkus star) as well as sharp criticism by an Indigenous reviewer. When the book went out of print, the extraordinary Anishinaabe reconciliation facilitator and wisdom keeper Sandi Boucher agreed to work with me to correct inaccuracies and tropes about Indigenous people and beliefs, with the aim of putting out an amended edition. Our collaboration was joyful for both of us, and the new book has recently emerged into the world. Sandi and I have been booking events to talk about the story of our work together, and look forward to more.
The Copper Stone: A Glimpse of Blood Memory is available on Amazon and soon in bookstores.
